Corrections and data requests

Workspace of people who use billionaire data

We want every figure and fact on BillionaireList to be right, and corrections are part of keeping it that way. Anyone can request one, whether you are the person on the profile, someone who works with them or a reader who spotted a mistake.

How to request a correction

  1. Open the profile and use the correction form at the bottom of the page.
  2. Choose the field you want corrected, for example net worth, date of birth, country, company role or a sentence in the description.
  3. Enter the value you believe is correct.
  4. Add an evidence link. This is required. Good evidence is a company filing, an official company statement, a published ranking with a date or a press report from a recognised publication.
  5. Enter your email address and send the form.

We then send you an email with a confirmation link. The request enters review only after you click it. This keeps automated and anonymous submissions out of the queue.

How we review a request

An editor compares the evidence with the current record. We check that the source is public, dated and actually supports the proposed value. If it does, we update the record, add the source to the profile and, for net worth figures, store the new estimate with its date so the history stays complete. We reply to your email with the result.

What we change and what we do not

We change factual errors that public evidence contradicts, outdated identity facts, wrong company roles and descriptions that misstate a public fact. We also add newer dated estimates when they are published.

We do not change a figure because someone prefers a different number, remove a published estimate because it is unflattering, or replace a sourced figure with an unsourced one. Older estimates stay in the history with their dates, because the history is part of the record.

Privacy requests

Profiles contain only facts that are already public about people who are public figures because of their wealth. If you are the person on a profile, or act for them, you can ask us to remove or restrict specific personal details, or object to their processing. Send the request to [email protected] from an address we can verify, name the profile and the details concerned, and explain the reason. We assess each request under applicable data protection law and reply by email. Our privacy policy describes your rights in full.

Questions people ask

Do I need evidence to request a correction?
Yes. Every request needs a link to public evidence, such as a filing, a company statement or a dated published report. Without it we cannot change the record.
Why did I receive a confirmation email?
We review a request only after the sender confirms their email address. Click the link in the email and your request enters the review queue.
Can you remove an old net worth figure from a profile?
Older estimates stay in the history with their dates, because they are part of the public record. If an old figure was recorded wrongly, send evidence and we correct it.
